∞League of American Bicyclistshas been working for better cycling in America since 1880. by promoting bicycling, educating cyclists and motorists, and advocating on behalf of cyclists on Capitol Hill and with state legislators across the United States. The site has resources for bicycle parts, advocacy, local community groups, legislation, touring companies and more.
∞National Center for Bicycling and Walkingtheir aim is to change the way communities are planned, designed and managed so that people of all ages and abilities can walk and bike easily, safely and regularly.
∞Pedestrian and Bicycle Information:a clearinghouse for information about health and safety, engineering, advocacy, education, enforcement and access and mobility. ∞Surface Transportation Policy Projectthis website has useful stats for each state, and other tools for educating policy makers and affecting legislation on transportation in your area. National transportation reform coalition with over 500 coalition partners; works on national and state legislation and policy.
∞Thunderhead Alliancetheir mission is to increase funding, membership and strategic ability- of organizations advocating for better cycling conditions in the U.S.
∞Transportation Alternatives goal is to reclaim New York City's streets from the automobile, and to advocate for bicycling, walking and public transit as the best transportation alternatives.
∞Working Bikes.non-profit that collects, repairs and sells bikes, then uses proceeds to donate and ship bicycles internationally to charity organization for disaster relief and communities in need.
∞World Bicycle Relieforganization that partners with relief organizations to provide bikes to people who need them. The org raises money and collects donated bikes to provide bicycle transportation to communities all over the world.
∞World Car Freea clearinghouse of information from around the world on how to revitalise our towns and cities and create a sustainable future. Also offers resources for architects, planners, teachers/professors, students, decision-makers and engaged citizens.
∞Yellow Bike Projectestablished, multi-location, well-running bike project. This links to the Austin chapter, but has been duplicated in other cities across the country. It's an inspiration to many bike co-ops to see one grow as strong and influential as YB.
